EMF and cell differentiation (in vitro study): Objectives


The aim of the present research is to demonstrate whether electromagnetic fields with a 50 Hz sine wave pattern have a direct or indirect effect on biological processes. Starting from biological models showing significant modifications after exposure to specific low frequencies and low -amplitude asymmetric pulse train modulated electric or electromagnetic fields, we investigate whether some characteristics of those patterns and their possible biological effects could be generated by a 50 Hz sine wave.

Our strategy includes three different research axes:

  • Classification of the physical characteristics of electromagnetic fields.
  • Description and characterisation of the biological response to specific electromagnetic fields.
  • Investigation of the cellular mechanisms activated by the electromagnetic signal and identification of the "receptor mechanism".
